My name is Kevin Thomas, I am the supervisor of the University of Utah Electrical Department. Recently, we received a demonstration of new first aid products and training of how to use them and existing products we already had. The training was done by Shield‐ Safety. After seeing this demonstration I was impressed with the product and the training they offered. I decided to invest in their product and training because I thought it would be valuable to my men and the University. We purchased new first aid kits, which we designed to fit our needs. They were delivered by Gavin Rich a week later. These kits were custom built by Shield‐Safety at no extra expense to us. Each one of my trucks got one of these new kits, plus a fully stocked 4‐shelf kit for our shop. Three days after the training, during a power outage, I was working in a man‐hole when a heavy wooden stool was knocked into the man‐hole and hit me in the head. This opened up a large gash on my head that began bleeding profusely. I came up out of the man‐hole with blood running down my face. The gash was approximately one inch long and would probably take several stitches to close. One of my men ran to his truck and grabbed his first aid kit and returned. He took out the Woundseal, tore open the package and poured it directly into the wound as he had learned in the training. This instantly stopped the bleeding just as it claimed. I did not feel any pain caused by the treatment. Since the bleeding was stopped I was able to go back to work with no trip to the emergency room for stitches. This saved a bunch of time and money. The next morning I washed dried blood out of my hair. The wound did not open up or start to bleed again. This was after about 12 hours since the incident. I returned to work with just a bump on my head. After one week the wound was completely healed with no infection or any side effects. Shield‐Safety replaced the used product for our kit within one day after we notified them. This product did exactly what it claimed. It saved us down time and about $800 in medical bills, not bad for the $13.00 it cost. My department and I would like to thank Shield‐Safety for their wonderful training and the products. I would recommend Shield‐Safety, their training and products to anyone who might have a need for it.
